For over 100 years the Hall at Hightae has been at the hub of the Four Towns village social life. There have been many changes over that period during which it has been the venue for a whole range of village activities, many of which are no longer with us but have been replaced to cover the needs of today.

This week sees another step forward with the installation of Solar Panels thanks to a grant from Annandale and Nithsdale Community Benefit Company.

The hall was gifted to the community and is run by volunteers and enables the whole community to benefit from the facilities at consistently low hire prices. The installation of Solar Panels is a further step towards keeping our running costs low and would not have been possible without the grant. Martin Brown, Director of ANCBC will be with us on Tuesday morning at 11.30 to see the result of their Grant and I hope that your paper too can attend, perhaps take some pictures and learn more about both our Hall activities and the benefits available from ANCBC grants.

Current activities include regular use by under 5s, Hightae Primary school, Annandale young farmers, Rural and Golden Years. Also hosted are two dances every week during the winter season, an Art group, a Craft group and Tai Chi, and more recently a number of children’s parties.

You will see that the hall is a busy place. We now look forward to the next 100 years!
